Stonewall National Museum – Wilton Manors (2157 Wilton Drive) presents the exhibition opening of Trans Cuba – Photographs by Mariette Pathy Allen from 6 to 8pm.  Photographer Mariette Pathy Allen has been an advocate and documentarian of the transgender community for more than 35 years. Photographs and interviews taken during trips in 2012 and 2013, document the lives and families of transgender women in Cuba, as they struggle to survive discrimination and poverty. On exhibit until July 15.

We fell in love with him during his NSYNC days, and now Justin Timberlake is a true superstar that will be in concert tonight at the American Airlines Arena as part of his Man of the Woods Tour. If you are busy tonight, don’t fret, as you can catch him tomorrow night (Sat May 19) at the BB&T Center in Lauderdale.

Saturday, May 19

The MDGLCC hosts their annual gala, this year entitled “The Ruby Gala at the Hilton Miami Downtown from 6-10pm. The awards this years are: AT&T Business of the Year Award: Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood; Regions Business Person of the Year Award: Vicki Brail; AIDS Healthcare Foundation Non-Profit Organization of the Year Award: YES Institute, and Morgan Stanley Bob Balsam Civic Achievement Award: Roger Thomson. Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale will once again bring together residents, businesses and visitors alike for a mouthwatering afternoon at the 6th Annual Smoke on the Water BBQ Feast & Competition from 12 to 6pm at Esplanade Park and features a variety of barbecued, smoked and grilled items starting at just $5. Some of South Florida’s best restaurants and caterers will compete for the title of Smoke on the Water BBQ Feast Champion and the right to proudly display the trophy in their establishment. A variety of other vendors will also be on hand offering everything from Italian ice to face-painting to outdoor gear. Catch one of my favorites, Joe Posa, along with Tony Tripoli — executive producer of Fashion Police and the late Joan Rivers’ head comedy writer — as part of “The Bitch Is Back,” a 90-minute, loving tribute to the comedy legend at Mizner Park Cultural Center at 7:30pm.

Pet Project for Pets and Re/Max Experience presents a “Night out for Pets” from 6-9pm at 549 NE 21st Court in Wilton Manors (behind Gables). The night will feature a buffet dinner, a cash bar and a silent auction. To purchase tickets go to: ThePetProjectFL.org.

Wilton Manors Arts & Entertainment Expo presents their monthly “Art Walk” from 6-9pm. Enjoy and evening of fun in one of South Florida’s most eclectic and easy going neighborhoods. South Florida’s fine artists will be displaying paintings, photographs, jewelry and sculpture at various business locations.

The Club Fort Lauderdale features their bi-monthly (1st and 3rd Saturday of the month) Res-Erection Naked Blackout event at 10p.m. This is always a sold-out event, so get there early!

Noche Latina Florida invites the entire community to come out and celebrate their 20th anniversary at Noche Latina Saturdays inside the Ivy Dance Room and Patio, at The Manor Complex. The night will pay tribute to all the Latin Cultures, and star Sasha Lords, Miss and Mr. Noche Latina2018: Estephania St Lords and Erik Lords, along with resident DJ Larry Larr and sexy Latin go-go papis: Juan, Ever and Braulio. In addition, there will be over $2,000 in raffles, prizes and giveaways. In the Ballroom catch, direct from RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 10, The Vixen along with DJ Sushiman spinning. Saturdays at the Manor the doors open at 11p.m. and feature NO COVER before midnight (FL res) and only $7 after for members and $10 for non-members (18-20 – $12 all night).

Rumors presents their monthly Drag Brunch starring Kat Wilderness, Starlet Sky, Alandra Matthews and Dang-Ho Yu Sickning along with DJ Ricciardi. There are 2 show times: at 12 noon at 2 pm.

Florida’s new hospitality-focused express intercity passenger rail service, announces introductory service into Miami Central (600 NW 1stAvenue) the new 11-acre intermodal development in the heart of downtown Miami, will begin Saturday, May 19. This transformative passenger rail system will soon connect West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Miami, and open with a launch of eight northbound and eight southbound trips per day. 

The highly-anticipated extension to Miami will link the already operating service between Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. Brightline is launching with introductory fares, complimentary parking and waiving added fees, like checked baggage, during the initial launch. Tickets in Smart Service range between $10 and $15 per segment, and tickets in Select Service range between $15 and $25 per segment. 

During the first weekend of service, Brightline guests are invited to MiamiCentral for a Welcome to the 305 Celebration. On Saturday, May 19, and Sunday, May 20, guests can enjoy $3 fares in Smart Service and $5 fares in Select Service.
