The Pro Shop Pub is set to make LGBTQ history when the business celebrates its 41st anniversary (located at the same downtown Clearwater Cleveland Street location since 1976). The Pro Shop Pub is the longest continuously-owned LGBT establishment in the state of Florida.  It is open daily from noon until 3 a.m. The big anniversary celebration takes place from 9 p.m. till 3 a.m. and is hosted by emcee Bob Moore.  The night’s activities feature female impersonator Imani Valentino, dancers, contests, collectable giveaways, and more.  As always, never a cover charge. Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The King and I” plays at the Carol Morsani Hall at the Straz Center from today through May 7. Lincoln Center Theater’s critically acclaimed production is directed by Tony Award Winner Bartlett Sher, and won four 2015 Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical. One of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s finest works, “The King and I” boasts a score which features such beloved classics as “Getting To Know You,” “I Whistle a Happy Tune,” “Hello Young Lovers,” “Shall We Dance” and “Something Wonderful.” Set in 1860’s Bangkok, the musical tells the story of the unconventional and tempestuous relationship that develops between the King of Siam and Anna Leonowens, a British schoolteacher whom the modernist King, in an imperialistic world, brings to Siam to teach his many wives and children. Wena’s Nightclub and Show Bar presents Stacy Layne Matthews from “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season three tonight and tomorrow, as part of their Cinco De Mayo Weekend extravaganza.

Orlando Ballet presents “A Cinderella Story” from today through May 7 at the Walt Disney Theater at the Dr. Phillips Center. Remember when families gathered around the television set on a Saturday night? That era, the 1950’s, is the setting for Val Caniparoli’s “A Cinderella Story,” a retro retelling of everybody’s favorite fairy tale.  Experience a unique take on the age-old story complete with vintage couture-inspired costumes, electric choreography melded with Richard Rodgers’ music, all arranged for a live jazz orchestra by legendary Winnipeg bandleader Ron Paley, with live music from the Central Florida Community Arts Big Band. Fairwinds Broadway in Orlando presents “Matilda the Musical” at the Dr. Phillips Center at the Walt Disney Theater from today until May 14. Winner of 50 international awards, including four Tony Awards, “Matilda the Musical” is the story of an extraordinary girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her own destiny. The 8th Annual Harvey Milk Festival (HMF) will take place starting today through May 13, concluding an 11-band concert at Five Points Park in historic downtown Sarasota. The mission of HMF is to honor and celebrate the life of Harvey Milk, one of the first openly gay Americans elected to public office, by fostering emerging talent in musicians and artists who support diversity and reject discrimination. Tampa International Fringe Festival, Tampa’s first ever un-juried, open-access fringe theatre festival is coming to historic Ybor City. The Center Orlando presents their annual Diversity Honors, recognizing those who have gone above and beyond in the pursuit of LGBTQ equality. The event takes place at Orchid Garden at Church Street Station (126 West Church Street) from 7-11 p.m. and is hosted by Scott Maxwell (Orlando Sentinel Columnist) with special remarks by Stuart Milk (Harvey Milk’s nephew and founder of the Harvey Milk Foundation). The night will honor: Lifetime Achievement Award – Lt. Jim Young, Orlando Police Department and OPD LGBT Liaison; LGBT Ally Award – Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs; LGBT Ally Award  – Orlando City Soccer Club; and

The 2nd annual Gluten Free + Healthy Lifestyles Expo [GFHLX] takes place at the

The original Jersey Boy himself, Frankie Valli is a true American legend. The Parliament House presents Miss Orlando F.I., an official preliminary to Miss Florida F.I. The night will honor the current reigning Miss Florida F.I. and P House cast member Shantell D’Marco. Categories include Swimwear, Evening Gown, Talent and Q&A. Entry fee is $100, but includes a free hotel room at P House. The winner receives $300 plus a state prize package, and the first runner up receives $100 and a state prize package. Pageant begins at 9 p.m. and admission is only $12.
