What’s Hot South Florida Jan. 17 – Jan. 23

Thursday, January 17

My favorite Broadway play of all time, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, comes to the Arsht Center for the Performing Arts from today until Sunday, February 3. Simon Stephens’ Tony Award-winning adaptation of Mark Haddon’s internationally best-selling novel, comes to thrilling life onstage as fifteen-year-old Christopher has an extraordinary brain; he is exceptionally intelligent but not well equipped to deal with everyday life. When he falls under suspicion for killing his neighbor’s dog, he sets out to identify the true culprit, which leads to an earth-shattering discovery that will change his life. This play is so good, I promise you won’t even blink! For tickets, which are $50, go to ArshtCenter.org.

The Lakeworth Playhouse presents Camelot – A Legendary Musical from today through February 3. Borrowing from the Arthurian legends, Lerner and Loewe’s Camelot is the duo’s fantastical masterpiece which triumphed on Broadway in a legendary original production that lead to a film version, and numerous revivals in New York, London and across the globe. Its Original Broadway Cast Album topped the charts for 60 weeks, with a rich score boasting such gems as “If Ever I Would Leave You,” “I Loved You Once in Silence,” “The Lusty Month of May,” and of course, “Camelot.” Preview Night tonight is $27; Opening Night is Friday, January 18, its 8:00 $38 which includes Opening Night Reception; Thereafter evening and matinee performances will run January 19-February 3, at 8pm and 2pm. ($29 & $35). For more information or to purchase tickets go to lakeworthplayhouse.org or call 561-586-6410.
